Notable Passings

...Stuntman-Actor Bob Hoy has passed away at the age of 82. Hoy, whose career began as a trooper in MGM's AMBUSH (1950), played ranch hand Joe Butler on THE HIGH CHAPPARAL (1967-71).

Hoy was a stuntman on many films, including RIVER OF NO RETURN (1954), THE BLACK SHIELD OF FALWORTH (1954), THE DEFIANT ONES (1958), NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959), and SPARTACUS (1960).

...Sir John Dankworth passed away earlier this month at the age of 82. Dankworth was a composer, saxophone player, band leader, and the husband of singing great Cleo Laine for over half a century.

His film credits include performing on the soundtrack of THE WHOLE TRUTH (1958).

I am fortunate that I saw him perform with Cleo Laine years ago.

...Walter Morrison, inventor of the Frisbee, has died at the age of 90.

Whoever would have previously thought that a simple spinning disc, which went through a series of names such as the Whirlo-Way, the Flyin-Saucer, and the Pluto Platter, would provide the world with such fun?
