Today at Disney California Adventure: Friday Night in Radiator Springs
Tonight we made our first trip to California Adventure in a month. It was a wonderful way to start the weekend; I so enjoy Cars Land and Buena Vista Street!
The view from Flo's V8 Cafe is one of the best of any Disney restaurant, looking out on Radiator Springs Racers:
After dinner we got in the single rider line for Radiator Springs Racers and were able to ride just half an hour later. This was my fourth time on the ride, and each time it impresses me more. It's an amazing combination of classic Disney "dark ride," impressive technology, and thrill ride.
After heading over to Paradise Pier to ride Toy Story Midway Mania, we returned to Cars Land to see the neon lights turned on at dusk. The above photo is of Radiator Springs just before the lights went on; note that the flag at Sarge's is at half mast due to today's sad news story in Colorado.
Just a few minutes later, "Sh-Boom" began playing and the neon lights were gradually turned on to applause from the park guests.
On our way out we snapped the young Walt and Mickey at Carthay Circle...
...and took a close look at the model of Claude Coats' Rock Candy Mountain at Trolley Treats:

When I went a couple of weeks ago I ate dinner at Flo's. Had the turkey and it was really good. The evening I was there though the turning on of the Neon lights did not work correctly. They came on briefly and then went out. Gee, guess I'll just have to go and see it again. Have not ridden Radiator Springs yet. Soon though, soon.
