Lauren Bacall Dies at 89

The Bogart Estate has officially confirmed the passing of a great star of the classic film era, Lauren Bacall.

She died today at her home in New York. She would have turned 90 next month.

If the only movies Lauren Bacall ever made were TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT (1944) and THE BIG SLEEP (1946) that would be enough to cement her legendary status.

Fortunately for all of us, she gave the world decades more of wonderful work, including KEY LARGO (1948), HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE (1953), WRITTEN ON THE WIND (1956), and THE SHOOTIST (1976), not to mention a Tony-winning turn in the Broadway musical APPLAUSE.

One likes to think they're together again at last.

Update: TCM Remembers Lauren Bacall.
