Quick Preview of TCM in October

The October schedule was recently posted online by Turner Classic Movies!

The folks at TCM have been working hard, as September was just published days before that!

Christopher Lee is the October Star of the Month.

Lee is, of course, a very appropriate honoree for Halloween month, just as Vincent Price was in 2013. Many spooky Lee films are on the agenda on Monday evenings in October, with the last Monday of the month being Halloween.

The abundance of horror films on the October schedule means it's not a favorite month for me. That said, there are still many interesting things on the October schedule, including a primetime tribute to the teaming of Dennis Morgan and Jack Carson plus multi-film celebrations of Buster Keaton, Mary Pickford, Elia Kazan, Carole Lombard, Lon Chaney, Laraine Day, Rita Hayworth, and Miriam Hopkins.

There's also an entire day of Dr. Kildare movies and a day of several Torchy Blane films with Glenda Farrell.

Lesser-known titles like FIND THE BLACKMAILER (1943) with Jerome Cowan and Faye Emerson and BURN 'EM UP O'CONNOR (1939) with Dennis O'Keefe and Cecilia Parker have caught my eye. Where else could one see favorite actors in fun little movies like that but on TCM?

In the meantime, Olivia de Havilland is currently the July Star of the Month, followed in August by the annual Summer Under the Stars festival. Gene Hackman is the Star of the Month in September.

Young Dennis O'Keefe in "Burn 'Em Up O'Connor" has an appeal that is off the charts!

Sounds great to me!!!

I really enjoyed Cecilia Parker in a couple of Buck Jones Westerns recently so her being the leading lady makes it sound even better. :)

Best wishes,
Laura
