Farewell to Captain von Trapp

Sad news today: Christopher Plummer has passed away at the age of 91.

It's hard to express how important THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965) has been over the course of my life; it was the key film of my childhood and continues to be one of a trio of films I consider my all-time favorite.

I have countless happy SOUND OF MUSIC memories spread over a lifetime, and Plummer was an integral part of the film's success.

His career, of course, lasted for decades; he was on screen in multiple films as recently as 2019, including the popular KNIVES OUT (2019).  But for me, he will always be Captain von Trapp.

So long, farewell.

Such sad news. Like you I have so many Sound of Music memories, and he is so important to those memories. Sound of Music was such an early memory, he's been part of my life for so long. So many other movies I love him in, too, like Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country and Murder by Decree. RIP.

Laura, this is sad news. Christopher Plummer was a marvelously talented actor, who I've enjoyed seeing in movies and TV shows for over 50 years. Recently, he was very good in the excellent KNIVES OUT(filmed 2018, released 2019). He will be missed.

So long, CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER R.I.P.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, Deb and Walter.

Deb, one of the Christopher Plummer movies which comes to mind for me is SOMEWHERE IN TIME (1980).

Walter, I have a copy of KNIVES OUT but haven't yet watched it. It has received an enthusiastic thumbs up from two of my children so I'm looking forward to trying it.

Best wishes,
Laura
