Laura-May I echo Walter's comments.

Interesting that you should feature Janis Paige-it's prompted me to order the Warner Archive
DVD of THIS SIDE OF THE LAW and I've always admired the way that you always continue to
feature unheralded or underrated actresses. The last thread featured lovely Ellen Drew
and I highly recommend the Kino Lorber Blu Ray of THE MAD DOCTOR not a Horror film but a
tense thriller that I think you will enjoy. The three leads-Ellen,Basil Rathbone and John
Howard are all perfectly cast. Some of the set pieces toward the end of the movie recall
work of Lang and Hitchcock.
I've also backtracked on some of your reviews for some B Movies that I have missed-
SMOOTH AS SILK-JAIL BREAK and MURDER IN THE BIG HOUSE.
As far as actresses that deserve more attention recently I have been enjoying performances by Brenda Marshall,Hillary Brooke,Phyllis Thaxter and especially Janis Carter and Audrey Long. I've also got a couple of Joan Dixon movies on my to be viewed
stack.

John, wonderful to hear from you! I hope you'll enjoy THIS SIDE OF THE LAW, and I appreciate your comments on THE MAD DOCTOR very much. I picked it up recently in a Kino Lorber sale because of Drew being in it, but I haven't watched it yet. I wasn't sure it would be my "thing" but the price was right! And you make it sound really interesting.

Thanks for visiting my older reviews - I recall SMOOTH AS SILK especially fondly and am hopeful of the chance to revisit it someday at a film fest.

You mention several actresses I enjoy, especially Audrey Long and Joan Dixon. But they're all good!
