Coming to DVD: The House Across the Bay (1940)

Turner Classic Movies has announced the DVD release of THE HOUSE ACROSS THE BAY (1940), starring George Raft, Joan Bennett, Lloyd Nolan and Walter Pidgeon. It will be available on April 30th.

The movie was directed by Archie Mayo.

It's not yet clear if the release will be pressed or a burned DVD-R. Extras will include lobby cards and stills.

ClassicFlix and Lou Lumenick note that TCM has made a deal with Castle Hill films to release at least a dozen films this year. Further titles have not been announced, but Castle Hill titles include such enticing possibilities as HISTORY IS MADE AT NIGHT (1937), TRADE WINDS (1938), I MARRIED A WITCH (1942), and THE CRYSTAL BALL (1943). I'd snap any of those titles up in a minute if they come out on DVD.

THE HOUSE ACROSS THE BAY airs on TCM on the April 30th DVD release date.

AHA! So that's why TCM is having a little George Raft festival on April 30. I wish they would show the movies where Raft dances. Well, maybe one of those August "Nights under the Stars" days...
