Quick Preview of TCM in June

Here's a short preview of some of the interesting things coming to Turner Classic Movies in June!

TCM will celebrate the centennial of the birth of Judy Garland by featuring her as the June Star of the Month. Over two dozen Garland films will be shown Friday afternoons and evenings in June.

Garland was previously honored as Star of the Month in July 2000 and April 2004.

The TCM Spotlight focuses on "Revisionist Westerns." There are several "Special Themes" in June, including a fashion on film series on Saturday evenings.

June Noir Alley titles are OUT OF THE PAST (1947), THE GUILTY (1947), THIEVES' HIGHWAY (1949), and DOWN THREE DARK STREETS (1954).

THE GUILTY, featuring Bonita Granville as identical twins, is a TCM premiere. It's also being released on Blu-ray by Flicker Alley later this month.

Filmmakers receiving multifilm tributes in June will include Paulette Goddard, Dean Martin, Lewis Milestone, Elizabeth Taylor, Hedda Hopper, Anthony Mann, William Wellman, William Seiter, William Keighley, and William Wyler.

This seems to be the month to honor directors named "William"!

June daytime themes include screwball murder mysteries, nightclubs, "Northerner" Canadian Westerns, films released in 1937, and movies with the words "How to..." in the title.

I'll have much more on the June schedule posted here around June 1st.

In the meantime, May features Anna May Wong as the TCM Star of the Month.
