2024 TCM Classic Film Festival Announcements

Last month Turner Classic Movies announced plans for the 2024 TCM Classic Film Festival, which will take place in Hollywood from April 18th through 21st.

Yesterday TCM announced that festival passes will go on sale at noon Eastern time on December 6, 2023.

Information on pass levels and pricing, including the "Early Bird" discount, may be found on the TCM website.

It's of note that TCM mentioned on the festival's FAQ page that there will not be a sponsor-related pass presale this year. In recent years Citi card holders could purchase their passes 48 hours ahead of the general sales beginning. This year there is a single "on sale date," December 6th.

The first eight titles for the festival have been announced as well:

*SHERLOCK JR. (1924), which will be screened along with the short THE GOAT (1921); both films will have live musical accompaniment.

*THE SIN OF NORA MORAN (1933)

*IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934)

*THE GOOD FAIRY (1935)

*WHITE HEAT (1949)

*ON THE WATERFRONT (1954)

*THE SEARCHERS (1956)

*THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! (1974)

I find this list, with its excellent cross-section of genres, quite appealing. I first saw THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! as a child, when it was first released, and it helped spark my growing interest in both musicals and classic films. I would especially love to see it theatrically again; an enthusiastic festival audience will make it a wonderful experience.
