Disneyland Raises Ticket Prices...Again

The price was raised Tuesday to $59 for an adult ticket, an increase of $3 per ticket.

Since March 2004, Disneyland ticket prices have increased 19 percent. Last year's increases didn't slow down high attendance for the 50th Anniversary, so Disney doubtless felt they could push the edge of the pricing envelope a bit more.

In happier news for Disney fans, Disneyland's sister park, California Adventure, is currently conducting the "soft opening" for the new Monsters Inc. ride which will officially open later this month.

We didn't see the Candlelight Ceremony this year -- we have been avoiding the crowds and made our annual "Christmas trip" on a schoolday.

Some pics of Dick Van Dyke at the Candlelight Ceremony are at http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl051205xx. I'm not aware of tickets being required, though it's possible -- for some years they were holding the ceremony at the theater in Toontown instead of at the Main Street Train Station and requiring tickets, but that caused a lot of problems and disappointed guests who couldn't see it. I'm not sure, though, whether it was moved back to Main Street due to guest disappointment or the theater being in use for SNOW WHITE. Maybe tickets were for the seats on Main Street?

I remember buying a one-day passport as a teen in the late '70s for around $13 or $14...their prices have risen steeply!
