Disney World to Offer Modified Mission: Space

Disney World's Epcot will modify one of its four Mission: Space ride compartments so that the compartment doesn't spin to simulate blasting off into outer space. Guests will thus be able to choose from two different versions of the same ride.

The new ride will be much tamer, viewing the journey on video monitors but not feeling the physical sensations -- makes me think of Disneyland's old Mission to Mars -- but is the only version of this ride I'd consider. One time on the spinning version was more than enough!

I'm glad they're giving people a choice not because of bad publicity or warning signs, but because our family actually went on it and half of our family of six didn't feel well for an hour afterwards! :)

It may have had something to do with the time of year of our two visits (mid to late August) but we found no waits when we were there and were kind of curious about that. Test Track had long lines as usual.

Thanks for stopping by, please come again. :) Best wishes, Laura

That would be very nice if they do follow through with this. They were still in the process of building the attraction the last time we went to Disney World. It's a ride I'd love to try but don't want to end up sick, so we'll stay away from it unless maybe this "tamer" version comes out.

Wow, Mission to Mars, that seems like a long time ago. I enjoyed that ride when it existed. Not sure now if it was because it was very good or just air-conditioned. lol

Mission to Mars was fairly hokey but definitely a nice air-conditioned break! :)

Please visit again -- Best wishes, Laura
