Patrick Kennedy Round-Up

Lots of interesting coverage of the bizarre Patrick Kennedy accident, in which he had a single-car crash while "going to a vote" -- at 2:45 a.m. He was not given field sobriety tests despite appearing to be under the influence.

Michelle Malkin (above) has lots of good links, including information on another recent Kennedy car accident. Check out his writing on the report for the previous accident, and the comparison provided of his "normal" writing. It certainly seems he's under the influence of something of late.

Betsy Newmark charitably wonders if Kennedy really was having a reaction to medications. Unfortunately we will probably never know, since he wasn't given a sobriety test by the police.

Drudge questions whether there was a cover-up, insofar as Kennedy received special treatment which would clearly not be given to the general public.

Power Line asks what a nonentity like Patrick Kennedy being in Congress says about the institution as a whole, and what his continuing to hold his seat reflects about the difficulty in effecting change in Washington. I suggest a similar question could be asked about Patrick's father...

Friday Update: It appears Patrick Kennedy may have been seen drinking. Rush Limbaugh stated this morning on his show that a reporter has contacted him who may have obtained a copy of Kennedy's bar tab.

As Rush said, one of the saddest things in this matter is that Patrick Kennedy has been sending up behavioral warning signals and red flags for years, yet he somehow hasn't gotten the help he needs to turn his life around.
