Original Star Wars Movies Coming to DVD

This is great news for STAR WARS fans: This fall the three original movies are coming to DVD in their original theatrical release formats. Translation: we can finally own the version where Han shoots Greedo first.

Years ago we rented a laser disc player for our two older children to see the original movies, but otherwise they have grown up with the revised "special edition" versions that were released theatrically in the late '90s, which were later released on video, and the editions that were revised yet further for DVD.

I wish Lucas had made the original editions available as part of the 2004 DVD release, but given that he had previously said something to the effect that the original releases no longer existed, the return of the long-lost "unenhanced" films can only be seen as very welcome news.

More at The Digital Bits.

Update: Another good story at E! Online.

Enjoyed yours too!

Did you know there is a George Lucas Building at USC? (There is also a Marcia Lucas Building...his ex-wife who edited the first S.W. movie.)

TTYS!
