Unbelievable

A California judge has tentatively ruled that the state cannot prevent students who have failed the California Exit Exam from graduating high school. A final ruling is expected Wednesday.

You see, according to the plaintiffs and the judge, it's just not fair that students haven't had time to learn the material -- which is at 8th to 10th grade level -- by the time they're in 12th grade, because they're in overcrowded schools without credentialed teachers. The students' "rights" have been violated because "not all California students have access to the same quality of education."

So, the judge concludes, the students deserve a high school diploma even if they can't pass very basic math and English exams.

Another example of the unchecked power of the California judiciary...

Tuesday Update: The ruling has been delayed until Friday.
