Around the Blogosphere Last Week

Slow posting over the last couple days for a variety of reasons, including Blogger problems and my son having his wisdom teeth removed. (He's recovering well.) Here are some of the articles which have caught my attention in recent days. There aren't any blog posts this time around, just news articles, so perhaps this post should more accurately be titled "Around the Internet Last Week"!

Victor Davis Hanson has written an excellent summary of the grassroots revolt against illegal immigration (see subject link). He concludes: "A savvy public is neither racist nor hysterical in wanting the border closed now. It's the only comprehensive solution to the present mess of illegal immigration."

Our Broken Immigration Record: Steven Malanga of City Journal has written another good summary.

Dump Chertoff: By Joseph Farah of World Net Daily. If only...

Katrina Fraud Swamps System: I seem to keep posting stories with similar headlines, but the problems continue to grow.

Our Faux Constitutional Crisis: Rich Lowry on Scooter Libby and the Clinton pardons.

"I am Both Muslim and Christian": An Episcopal priest doesn't see the inherent heresy in attempting to combine Christianity and Islam. Her bishop has ordered her to take a time out, but I believe she should have been asked for her resignation, as she obviously has not lived up to her ordination vows, among other things.

Feinstein Denies Helping Husband's Firm: And she refuses to be interviewed about it.

Danger on the Dome: It's nuts allowing so many people to summit Yosemite's Half Dome at one time, or to allow young children to attempt it. I first saw an article about this when we were on vacation in the Sierras a couple weeks back. If adults want to take the risks, that's their business, but children? Three people have fallen to their deaths in the past year. Even for experienced climbers who know what they're doing, there are always risks. The father of a high school acquaintance of my daughter's died in a terrible fall at Zion last month (see the final three paragraphs of this article).
