I came across a New York Times interview with Robert Osborne of Turner Classic Movies today. It's two years old, but fans of TCM will find it an enjoyable read.
Interesting. I at first thought he wrote all those intros he does, but then I assumed that, like any TV "show," they would hire other writers and that he's just reading a teleprompter.
I'm a little torn knowing that he writes them all, because some of the puns and "jokes" he throws out are just so bad! But I guess all of us writers have our off days. :)
I really miss Bob Dorian from the grand old days of AMC, though. He was my first classic-movie host.
It was Sophia Loren day Robert Osborne gave a great narrative of her as they showed various clips from her films. He was apparently as in love with her as almost all of her leading men (and non-leading men. Heck, all men!). But there was no doubt, he htoo had survived Sophia fever, er uh, fervor.
