Greg Maddux to Retire

Pitcher Greg Maddux, who ranks No. 8 on the all-time win list with 355 victories, will announce his retirement next week.

Maddux's honors over the years include four Cy Young Awards and 18 Gold Gloves.

Maddux spent the majority of his career with the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs, and finished out the last months of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He will officially announce his retirement Monday.

Hard to believe it's over. We were lucky enough to go to a Diamondbacks game this spring and saw him pitch there. Hopefully I'll get to make a trip to Cooperstown in five years and see him and Tom Glavine go in together.

That would be a wonderful trip, Holley!

Cooperstown is very high on my "wish list" of places to visit. We were able to see a traveling exhibit from Cooperstown at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum a few years ago, which we enjoyed very much.
