Pray for These Men

I was greatly moved by the story of the San Diego area man who lost his entire family -- wife, daughters, and mother (correction: mother-in-law) -- when the F/A-18 crashed into his house yesterday.

In his deep grief the bereaved man has thought of someone else -- the surviving Marine Corps pilot, who ejected just before the crash: "Please pray for him not to suffer from this accident. He is one of our treasures for the country."

I've thought of this man, that poor pilot and their extended family and friends several times in the last few days. What a great heart that husband and father must have to say what he did. I hope that he left his home in peace that morning as he left for work and that each of us tries to remember to live our lives in a similar forgiving spirit. I'll keep all those touched by this horrific event in my prayers. Thanks so much for posting about it.

That the bereaved man showed such compassion and sympathy toward the pilot evidences grace at work in his life. This same grace will also see him through his own personal losses. I am thankful he has that.
