...Just one year after Ben Lyons and TCM's Ben Mankiewicz were hired to host AT THE MOVIES, the two Bens are out.They'll be replaced by A.O. Scott of the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune's Michael Phillips.
Mankiewicz was fine, but Lyons had no business being on the show, in my humble opinion.
...Turner Classic Movies will begin airing a series of specials called A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES in October.
The series will examine different film genres, starting with THE SUSPENSEFUL WORLD OF THRILLERS.
Future entries will include a special on "cinema epics" in December.

This little tidbit is fascinating. Is Mankiewicz leaving TCM as the weekend host, too? Gotta say, I kinda wish he would. I've never liked him - related to old H-wood, or not.

I don't think Mankiewicz is leaving TCM, just AT THE MOVIES.
