Notable Passings
...America has lost another famous TV parent...days after the passing of Barbara Billingsley of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, actor Tom Bosley has passed on.
Bosley, who will forever be remembered as "Mr. C" on HAPPY DAYS, was 83.
As I've mentioned here previously, I once attended the filming of a HAPPY DAYS episode...rather ironically, it was the unfortunate episode which contributed the phrase "Jump the Shark" to the American lexicon.
Mr. Bosley also had a substantial theatrical career which included winning the Tony Award for FIORELLO! Bosley's first film appearance was in LOVE WITH THE PROPER STRANGER (1963), which I reviewed last summer.
...Johnny Sheffield, who played Boy in the TARZAN series and later starred in several films as BOMBA THE JUNGLE BOY, has died at the age of 79.
Sheffield debuted as Boy in TARZAN FINDS A SON! (1939).
In the L.A. Times obituary, Sheffield is quoted as having very kind words for his film father, Johnny Weissmuller: "He was like a father to me. He was always looking out for me."
