Notable Passings

...Actress Peggy Rea, who played Cousin Rose in later seasons of THE WALTONS, has passed away at the age of 89. Rea, who died last weekend, would have turned 90 next month.

Rea appeared regularly on TV beginning in the early '60s, including recurring roles on THE DUKES OF HAZZARD and GRACE UNDER FIRE.

...Southern Californians may not immediately recognize the name Jack Popejoy, but they surely listened to him if they tuned in to the news on KFWB or KNX during the last quarter century. Popejoy was at KFWB 980 from 1986 to 2009, when he moved to KNX 1070.

Popejoy died of cancer last Saturday at the age of 63.

...Brian Jacques, the author of the beloved REDWALL series, has passed away at the age of 71.

Jacques wrote 21 REDWALL books, beginning in 1986.

February 14th Update: The L.A. Times has now published a more detailed obituary.

...Tony Malinosky, a Brooklyn Dodger who was the oldest living major leaguer, died Tuesday at the age of 101.

Malinosky played for the Dodgers in 1937, but his career was cut short by a knee injury.

I heard about Jack Popjoy on KNX the other day.

I loved all the Redwall books. Sorry to hear of his passing :(
