Visits to Sedona and Las Vegas Cemeteries
I'll be breaking photo posts on our recent road trip into several small sections by topic. I thought I'd start off with a short, simple post on brief visits we paid to cemeteries in Arizona and Nevada.
While we were in Arizona we visited the Sedona Community Cemetery, which has striking views. Rather unusually, the cemetery is completely drivable, with many raised headstones which can be seen from the road.
Within just a few minutes we located actor James Gregory, who is special to me due to his appearance in NIGHTFALL (1957), a favorite film shot in Bridgeport, California. He was a busy working screen actor from 1948 until the mid '80s, with TV's BARNEY MILLER (1975-82) being one of his best-known projects.
Here's another view; his headstone is under the tree in the center of the photo.
A few days and a couple of states later we visited the Palm Downtown Cemetery in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was very special to me to pay our respects to cowboy hero Bill Elliott, who is interred in a mausoleum. I hope somehow he knows how much movie joy he's brought me and so many others.
Bill Elliott's wife, Dolly Herbst, is interred outdoors not far from her husband, who preceded her in death by approximately 35 years.
We next drove to the nearby Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park.
The great Harry James is interred here -- someone else who's brought us enormous joy thanks to his marvelous music and movie appearances.
It was special to make these visits and acknowledge how much each of these men has added to our lives thanks to their work.
Coming soon: Movie locations, Zion National Park, and more.

Both interesting and moving to see these, Laura, and especially Wild Bill (of course!).
Thank you, Jerry. Glad I could take you and others along "virtually."
Best wishes,
Laura
