Quick Preview of TCM in June

It's time for a brief advance look at the upcoming June schedule on Turner Classic Movies!

Katharine Hepburn will be the June Star of the Month. Over two dozen Hepburn films will be shown on Thursday evenings.

This is Katharine Hepburn's fourth time to be honored by TCM as Star of the Month. She was previously celebrated in November 1997, January 2004, and in May 2007, when she shared the honors with John Wayne to celebrate their centennial birth month.

The June Noir Alley titles will be BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND DAWN (1950), THE VERDICT (1946), FLAXY MARTIN (1949), and STORM WARNING (1951).

The TCM Spotlight theme is "Hollywoodland," featuring both documentaries and feature films on Hollywood.

The Musical Matinee franchise on Saturdays features everything from the sublime THE MERRY WIDOW (1934) to Ann Miller in REVEILLE WITH BEVERLY (1943) to...ABBA: THE MOVIE (1977). A little something for everyone!

Filmmakers receiving multifilm tributes in June include Robert Mitchum, Tay Garnett, Alexis Smith, Judy Holliday, Clarence Brown, Basil Rathbone, Stewart Granger, Eleanor Parker, and Tony Curtis.

The Curtis tribute is noteworthy as it will feature the TCM premiere of a childhood favorite of mine, THE BLACK SHIELD OF FALWORTH (1954).

Raquel Welch will be honored with a memorial tribute on Sunday, June 11th.

June themes include June brides, showgirls, time travel, New York City, London, mysteries, and submarines.

Father's Day will be celebrated on June 18th with a lineup which includes OUR VINES HAVE TENDER GRAPES (1945), LIFE WITH FATHER (1947), and FATHER OF THE BRIDE (1950).

I'll have much more on TCM's June schedule posted here around June 1st. In the meantime, enjoy William Powell, who continues as the May Star of the Month!
