Maybe It's Time to Close the Borders?

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has a "gut feeling" that terrorists are regrouping and we are entering a new period of heightened risk from attack.

The White House is convening a meeting Thursday to discuss the possibility that an Al Qaeda cell is in the U.S. or will arrive soon.

So let's connect the dots...Chertoff is the hand-wringing man who insists our nation is incapable of closing its borders, that we're defenseless against ladders and tunnels. That's right, the same nation that put a man on the moon can't find a way to keep out illegal immigrants...and terrorists.

Al Qaeda can enter our country any number of ways, but why make it so easy for them?

I continue to ask: Is Chertoff really the man we want in charge of protecting our country?

I know the answer. Does the President?

Wednesday Update: The White House denies there is a special meeting on Thursday.

A White House spokesman also said that he wasn't aware whether or not Chertoff had communicated his "gut feeling" to the President.
