Walter O'Malley Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame

Longtime Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley, who moved the team from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Dodgers celebrate 50 years in Los Angeles this coming baseball season.

It's absurd that it took 28 years after O'Malley's death for him to be elected to the Hall of Fame, and sillier still that even at this point he received the minimum number of votes.

Even now, too many people hang on to petty resentment about the team leaving New York, choosing to ignore O'Malley's huge influence on the game, including being a leader in the integration of baseball and spreading major league baseball to the West Coast.

If you're a Dodgers fan, don't miss Walter O'Malley.com, which is a superb website dedicated to O'Malley and Dodgers history.
