I Wondered How Long It Would Take...
...for it to register in some quarters that if John Edwards had done the prudent thing and not run for President while covering up an affair, the Democratic Party might now have a different nominee.
Ed Morrissey analyzes whether media silence cost Clinton the nomination, but I think the more salient point is that Edwards himself changed the outcome...with, as Morrissey points out, more than a little help from Hillary herself. Anyone remember driver's licenses for illegal aliens?
In any event, it's now the proverbial water under the bridge. Given Bill Clinton's own checkered marital history throughout his political career, it seems more than a bit hypocritical for Clinton supporters to complain.

I'm amazed at the woulda-shoulda-couldas in this mess. From who the nominee might have been, to who the veep nomination might have been, etc. Simple but I have continually thought about 'oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we do deceive'. This is like the Russian Matryoshka dolls, open one up and find another, then another, and so on.
Kind of interesting to idly consider what all the ramifications have been of different decisions in this situation.
Makes me think of the movie SLIDING DOORS, in a way, which illustrated how a seemingly small thing (catching a train) could lead to a completely outcome in the lead character's life.
Best wishes,
Laura
