Weekend Fun: Long Beach State Alumni Band

Tonight was the annual performance of the Long Beach State Alumni Band at my husband's alma mater, Cal State University at Long Beach. The band played at the Long Beach 49ers basketball game against the UCI Anteaters at the Long Beach Pyramid.


The alumni band first performed in 1989 and has been going strong ever since; in 1999 the band began appearing at L.B. State basketball games annually.



Those who watch KABC News in Los Angeles might recognize the sax player on the right. The sax player on the left, as a matter of fact, can be seen in the band on DANCING WITH THE STARS.






Long Beach State beat UCI, 55-53.


It's always fun to hear the band play -- they have their old charts of '70s music, including ROCKY and Barry Manilow -- and good to see old friends.
