Coming to DVD: Fate is the Hunter (1964) and Miranda (1948)

FATE IS THE HUNTER (1964), an absorbing aviation mystery, is due on DVD as part of the new Twilight Time series of limited edition DVDs.

The DVDs are sold only through Screen Archives Entertainment. Only 3000 copies of this title will be sold.

FATE IS THE HUNTER will be released on May 10th and is now available for pre-order. Special features on the DVD included an isolated music and effects track, as well as the trailer.

I found this film quite worthwhile when I saw it last January. It stars Glenn Ford, Rod Taylor, and Suzanne Pleshette, as well as Dorothy Malone in an unbilled role.

VCI has announced on its blog that the delightful mermaid fantasy MIRANDA (1948) will be released on DVD on July 5th.

Cover art is not yet available.

MIRANDA stars Glynis Johns in a marvelous performance as a mermaid determined to see London. When I watched it last year I had the definite feeling it might have inspired the makers of Disney's SPLASH (1984). However, only MIRANDA has Johns' unique spin on a man-hungry mermaid, a role she reprised in MAD ABOUT MEN (1954).

Highly recommended.
