Poldark Actress Angharad Rees Dies at 63

Terribly sad news broke today, that Welsh actress Angharad Rees has died at the age of 63.

She had been suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Rees created one of British TV's most indelible characters, starring as Demelza in POLDARK and POLDARK II.

Her Demelza was unforgettable, and she shared a powerful chemistry with costar Robin Ellis.

Ellis wrote today on his blog: "It is devastating news. Angharad was a wonderful friend...her portrayal of Demelza in POLDARK was was a privilege to know her."

Rees's ex-husband, Christopher Cazenove, passed away two years ago. One of their sons had previously died in a car accident.

Rees and Ellis's POLDARK I costar, Richard Morant, passed on last fall.

POLDARK has brought me great pleasure over the years, since I first discovered it as a teenager, and the show would not have been nearly as wonderful without her marvelous performance as the fiery, determined servant turned lady of the manor. I'm very sad to learn of her passing.

What a sad loss. I have been a life long avid fan of Poldark. No one else could have filled her shoes as `Demelza`. She will always live in our hearts and minds. RIP Angharad x
