Happy Valentine's Day

Best wishes to all for a very happy Valentine's Day!

The lovely actress featured in this vintage publicity photo is Anne Gywnne, who appeared in over 50 films from 1939 to 1952.

Gwynne was born in Texas in 1918; she passed away in 2003, at the age of 84. The Los Angeles Times published a nice overview of her career at the time of her death, and last year Susan King wrote an article on her career for the same paper.

Gwynne typically played supporting roles in "A" films and was the leading lady of "B" films and Westerns. Her films previously reviewed here include SPRING PARADE (1940), NICE GIRL? (1941), WASHINGTON MELODRAMA (1941), and PANHANDLE (1948).

Anne Gwynne's daughter Gwynne married actor Robert Pine, best known for the TV series CHiPs and most recently a voice actor in Disney's FROZEN (2013). They are the parents of Chris Pine, currently starring in JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT (2014).

Other Chris Pine films reviewed here: BOTTLE SHOCK (2008), UNSTOPPABLE (2010), THIS MEANS WAR (2012), and RISE OF THE GUARDIANS (2012). Pine has also notably played Captain James T. Kirk in STAR TREK (2009); upcoming films include playing a prince in Disney's filming of the musical INTO THE WOODS (2014). Update: Here's a review of Chris Pine in THE FINEST HOURS (2016).

Have a wonderful day!

Lovely picture of Anne Gwynne. Anne is in one of my favorite B's - THE GLASS ALIBI.
