Quick Preview of TCM in April

Next month Turner Classic Movies will be doing something quite different, devoting their entire schedule to the history of a single studio, Warner Bros.

The occasion is the studio's centennial; Warner Bros. was founded on April 4, 1923.

Mondays and Thursdays the schedule will focus on directors, with contract players honored on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In each case, two films per person will be shown.

Other themes over the course of the month include "How It Started and the Dawn of Sound," crime movies, Busby Berkeley, World War II films, and much more.

One of the most interesting lineups will focus on films which were shot at the Warner Bros. studio in Britain, Teddington, in the mid '30s.  The titles that day include MR. COHEN TAKES A WALK, which will be introduced by Leonard Maltin at next month's TCM Classic Film Festival. The movie is also known by the title FATHER TAKES A WALK.

The usual TCM franchises, including Noir Alley and Silent Sunday Nights, will be suspended in April, returning to the schedule in May.

April sounds like a very interesting month on TCM. I'll have more detailed information here about TCM's April lineup around March 31st.

It's going to be very different! An interesting opportunity to become immersed in one studio. I like the way they are honoring so many different actors and directors with a pair of films for each person.

Best wishes,
Laura
