Around the Blogosphere This Week

Miscellaneous bits of news and fun stuff from around the internet...

...At her blog Out of the Past, Raquel Stecher has compiled one of her amazing lists of new and upcoming classic film books. I always find interesting titles on these lists! Other titles of interest for me include DESIGNING HOLLYWOOD by Christian Esquevin, STARMAKER: DAVID O. SELZNICK AND THE PRODUCTION OF STARS IN THE HOLLYWOOD STUDIO SYSTEM by Milan Hain, and STRICTLY DYNAMITE: THE SENSATIONAL LIFE OF LUPE VELEZ by Eve Golden.

...Raquel has also posted a roundup of book reviews from this summer's Classic Film Reading Challenge. There are many interesting titles reviewed, so be sure to check it out!

...The Criterion Channel has a terrific August schedule, including a collection of 10 Kay Francis films and a trio of 1930s underworld films directed by Rowland Brown.

...From Media Play News: Will DVDs and Blu-rays see a resurgence of popularity?

...The latest post at John Bengtson's always-interesting site on L.A. silent film locations is on "The Keaton-Fairbanks Hollywood Fire Station."
