Laura's Miscellaneous Musings Turns 18

I'm very happy to say that July 16th marks this blog's 18th anniversary. That's amazing!

This is a fun day to reminisce that my oldest daughter, who was a high schooler when this blog began, set it up for me one afternoon while waiting for a delivery truck to pull up with the newest Harry Potter book. I thanked her for her help again this weekend; if she hadn't taken the time to set up the blog, I might not be writing this 18 years later!

I also want to mention how grateful I am for the longtime support of my father, who passed away earlier this year. He was a key to my becoming the classic film fan I am today, and while he never posted here, he read this blog every single day and gave me countless valuable suggestions. Our daily email discussions often provided ideas for movies to watch or sparked ideas for my blog writing.

It's been a challenging few months since his passing, and I appreciate everyone's patience as between family matters and unusually extensive travel I've been much slower to answer comments and emails than has usually been the case.

I am incredibly grateful to all of you, my readers. Your friendship and support for the past 18 years have meant more than I can say. My sincere thanks to you all.

Previous blog anniversaries: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

A fantastic achievement, Laura, and many congratulations. But also many thanks for the tremendous amount of work you put in to enable all of us to learn (there is ALWAYS something to learn where classic film is concerned) and to share comments and make freindships. Here's to the next 18!

Congratulations on 18 years, Laura, that is a record of achievement to be proud of - well done! I’m not sure that this is a recompense for all of your work but I hope you take satisfaction in the fact that very frequently when I finish a new to me classic,I go to your blog to read your take on it. I don’t generally do it beforehand because i am spoiler conscious but I also credit you with exercising discretion to either avoid spoilers or warn the reader they might want to stop reading to do so.

I am glad that your father was a positive force in your life. Having lost parents 11 and 3 years ago respectively I offer you my sympathy and regret that you will have both great memories of his life and a difficult period of adjustment. After my Dad passed It took many years for me to not want to pick up the phone to call him after a significant event occurred. I am sorry for your loss.

Laura, congratulations on 18 years! I'm so glad your helpful daughter took the time to set this blog up all those years ago. I especially appreciate the reader-friendly font and line spacing you chose, as well as all the links to IMDB and your previous posts that you include. Your "musings" have been such a blessing to me as I ponder which movies to watch, since our viewing tastes are similar.

I'm very sorry to hear about your father's passing. I hope you'll have many wonderful memories of him when you watch his favorite films in the years to come.

No worries about having fewer posts lately. There are plenty of your older ones that I can check out! Looking forward to many more years of LMM.

A very happy anniversary, Laura! According to my calculations, I’ve been reading for half that time, thanks to your contributions to the old ClassicFlix blog. Thank you very much for everything. You, your father, and family remain in my prayers.

Congratulations, Laura. I always check out your review before I watch a movie. Or find an interesting one I didn't even know existed.
I'm sorry about your father. I too lost my parents not long ago and even if you're an adult, it's not easy.

Laura, congratulations on your 18th blogiversary! (My blog is only at the 13.5-year mark.) And condolences on the loss of your father. How wonderful that he had a part in all this. My father had already died before I started blogging, *and* he would never have had a computer! But I would have printed out and mailed my posts to him.

Congratulations on 18 years of blogging. That is quite an accomplishment! I always enjoy reading your articles and am thankful you are so consistent with them.

I'm also sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My own father passed away in recent years, and I have not done nearly as well as you in continuing my writing. It's very difficult to continue on without loved ones, but it certainly does give you a new perspective on life.
