In Disney News...

...Slashfilm reports that Disney's 3-D rerelease of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, once scheduled to hit theaters February 12th, has been pushed back.

The release may not be in theaters until 2011.

It appears that for the short term Disney will focus on the DVD reissue of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, expected this fall, then turn its attention to releasing the 3-D version theatrically.

...Distressing news: the wonderful Animation Building lobby at Disney's California Aventure seems likely to disappear.

Noooo!

As David Koenig writes at MousePlanet: "It’s my favorite acreage in all of DCA, my happy place, a shelter from the heat and the rain and (once the water show opens) the crowds, to recharge the batteries..."

That's exactly right. We absolutely love going in there and watching the beautiful slide show while we recharge for a few minutes. It's one of the nicest things about DCA.

Koenig says "Unfortunately, that lobby is DCA’s PeopleMover—a simple refuge that guests love, but management loathes because it draws neither big crowds or big bucks. To them, it’s wasted real estate."

Hmmm, I'm one of those people who also keeps hoping for the return of the PeopleMover...

Update: The official Disney Parks Blog has a nice video previewing this spring's World of Color show.

I think suspect that area is much more loved than Disney realizes, Ken. For instance, I know my kids' friends like to relax in there on hot days, too. The slide show is wonderful -- so "Disney"!

Best wishes,
Laura
