New Book: Holidays On Display

Here's a recent release which looks like fun for this holiday season: HOLIDAYS ON DISPLAY, which chronicles the history of department store Christmas display windows.

The author, William L. Bird, Jr., is a curator at the Smithsonian. (In fact, he had a book signing at the Air and Space Museum last weekend.)

The book was published by the Princeton Architectural Press.

Hi Laura,
This book looks like a must have. My girls are going to NY next week and one of the things they're determined to do is see all the window displays.
We are puzzle fans, too. My mom brought one last Christmas that was so intricate it took us several days to get it done. Is your daughter home yet? Lucy comes home next Wed. Can't wait!

I envy your daughters their visit to NYC, Holley! Someday we'll get there. Viewing the window displays sounds like a very Christmasy thing to do. Hope they have a great time.

My daughter comes home late this year -- her classes just ended today and her last final isn't until the 19th! She might sneak home for a day during finals week to visit Disneyland with us, though. :)

Great to know another family who loves jigsaw puzzles. This would be perfect for your daughters after their trip to NYC: Christmas at Rockefeller Center.

Best wishes,
Laura
