Las Vegas: More Resorts

Time for the grand finale of my photo tour of last weekend's whirlwind visit to Las Vegas. This time around I'm sharing photos of the grounds of three resorts: Caesar's Palace, The Venetian, and The Mirage.

Caesar's Palace is very ornate:

Caesar's is fairly kitchsy, but I thought the Hearst Castle style vibe was fun:

Caesar's also felt a little more family friendly to us than some of the other resorts.

The replica of Trevi Fountain in front of Caesar's:

My kids, being Food Network fans, were as excited to see Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill as anything else on the trip!

It didn't fit our schedule to eat there -- just as well, given the $48 steaks (!) -- but my son was delighted to bring home a Mesa Grill t-shirt.

The Mirage is one of the prettiest resorts on the strip, featuring lots of flowers, live animals (including dolphins and white tigers), and a volcano which erupts in the evening hours.

The Mirage was one of many resorts which decorated for Chinese New Year:

The Venetian has a large indoor shopping area of high-end stores arranged around canals:

These ultra-expensive stores, which would be difficult for most of us to afford during good economic times, were largely empty.

We liked the graceful curved escalators inside the Venetian:

In its way the Venetian was as ornate as Caesar's Palace:

And so the virtual tour of Las Vegas draws to a close!

Previously: Weekend Fun: Road Trip!; Back From Las Vegas!; Las Vegas: M&M's and Coca-Cola Stores; Las Vegas: Bellagio Water Fountains and More; Las Vegas: Resorts and Roads.

No matter how high-end or lush these resorts, that they're in Vegas they seem to have a little lining of the city's tackiness to them...(and not that they're not beautiful but....it's Vegas...)

I agree, Dana. Everything in Vegas just seems to have an...undercurrent. Fascinating place, but...

Best wishes,
Laura
