Quick Preview of TCM in September

The good folks at Turner Classic Movies left us a present before they went home for the weekend: the September schedule is now posted online. Vivien Leigh is September's Star of the Month.

TCM will be showing over a dozen Leigh films and documentaries in September, including some of her early British work and of course GONE WITH THE WIND (1939) and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (1951). Classics such as WATERLOO BRIDGE (1940) and THAT HAMILTON WOMAN (1941) will also be shown.

It sounds like there's lots of other good stuff on the schedule in September, including tributes to Claudette Colbert, Kim Novak, Dane Clark, Deborah Kerr, and Greer Garson. Tim Holt Westerns, early Joan Crawford films, Fritz Lang's SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR (1948) with Joan Bennett and Michael Redgrave, and MGM's beautiful (if not entirely successful) musical SUMMER HOLIDAY (1948) are among the other good things coming to TCM in September.

I'll be taking a closer look at the September schedule this fall. We've still got all summer to enjoy first, though! Gregory Peck is TCM's July Star of the Month, and August will be the return of Summer Under the Stars.

Update: Those who can't wait for a closer look at the September schedule can visit Thrilling Days of Yesteryear for full details.
