16th Blog Anniversary!

Today marks the 16th anniversary of Laura's Miscellaneous Musings, which came into being on July 16, 2005.

I have a special anniversary celebration in the works this year: A giveaway of several Kino Lorber Blu-rays, similar to the 10th anniversary Warner Archive giveaway I did back in 2015.

Please stay tuned for further details in the next few days!

I've been buried in work since returning home from my recent trip, but I also have lots of movie and book reviews in the works, along with trip photo posts and more.

I want to again express my deepest appreciation to all of you who read and comment here at Laura's Miscellaneous Musings. I'm very grateful for your friendship and support.

Update: Here are the details on the Blu-ray giveaway!

Update: The winners!

Update: I've drawn a backup winnerfor one of the Blu-rays.

Previous blog anniversaries: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Congratulations and all your past and future achievements.
PS: Your name is legendary in our family!

A refurbished version of The Great Man's Lady? I think that is where my fondness for Brian Donlevy began years ago.

Congratulations on sticking with this blog all these years. Many have switched to other social media platforms but you have stuck with Blogger and I sure do appreciate it! Still follow you on Twitter and found some other Twitter people through yours that I look at (but still I haven't joined Twitter myself). Congratulations again on the twins and I enjoyed your trip up there. Speaking of names, you are referred to around here as "Orange County Laura" and my husband knows who that means!!!

I don't comment often, but I stop by every day. You treat the movies as simple pleasures, and that's refreshing.

Congratulations on your anniversary. I read on here recently that you began logging your list of viewed movies back when you were eleven! Your extensive knowledge gleaned from decades of film watching is evident. I enjoy your blog so much. We have similar taste in movies, so it has been extremely helpful to me in choosing what to (or not to) watch. Thanks for all your work in writing and editing these posts!

Congratulations on your first sixteen years of this blog. Love the blog, and it is one of my top go-to sources when looking for reviews of movies new to blu which I have not seen before.

Thanks to you all *very* much for taking the time to leave such very nice comments!! They've given the last day a warm glow as I heard from each of you. I appreciate it immensely.

Caftan Woman, I agree that Donlevy is excellent in THE GREAT MAN'S LADY. Although the cover here is UNION PACIFIC -- actually, I'm not sure it clicked with me before that the two films have identical leads, so thanks! :) I just learned that William Wellman Jr. will be introducing THE GREAT MAN'S LADY at this fall's Lone Pine Film Festival. I have high hopes that one day you will be able to be at that festival.

Irene, I love that, "Orange County Laura." :)

It means a great deal to hear not only from greatly valued "old friends" of this blog but from readers I haven't known were enjoying it -- thank you for letting me know!

With best wishes and deepest appreciation to all,
Laura
